Andreea Lăcătuş
Andreea Lăcătuş (b. 1993) is a Romanian filmmaker living and working in Bucharest, Romania. She graduated with a BA and MA in Film Direction, from the National University of Theatre and Film “I. L. Caragiale”, in Bucharest, in 2015/ 2017 (class of Prof. Copel Moscu), and took a semester at “Eszterházy Károly” University, where the tutoring was led by Hungarian film director Csaba Bollok. Andreea was part of “Midpoint” Workshop in Ponesice, Czech Republic, with the script “Between the edges of the day”, which was also a finalist of “The Pitch”, organized by “Shorts TV”, in Bucharest, during “NexT” Film Festival, in 2016. In 2017, she won a dramaturgy residency in Cluj, Romania, where she wrote the play “Success. Small contemporary anxieties”, which was published and had a series of public readings. She worked as an assistant director and assistant producer on many films and commercials, collaborating with production companies from Romania and abroad. She takes a bitter-sweet angle in her approach to cinema. She is interested in how the world challenges one’s self image and in questioning the faces of truth and morality. She believes in personal tragedies mirrored in paradoxical, sometimes comical situations, considering that the most important thing cinema can do is awaken the need for self-reflection in the viewer.
