Born in 1977, Radu Jude graduated from Media University, the department of Film Direction, in 2003. He worked as assistant director for feature films like “Amen” (director Costa Gavras) or “The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu” (director Cristi Puiu). “The Tube with a Hat” (2006) by Jude is the most awarded Romanian short film until the present, winner of the grand prizes at Sundance, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Grimstad, Hamburg, Bilbao, Huesca, Trieste, Montpellier, Cottbus, Aspen, Indielisboa, Bruxelles, Mediawave, Cracow, Almeria, Valencia, Uppsala, selected, amongst others, for Toronto, Telluride, New Directors/New Films, Tampere, Rotterdam, Huesca. “Alexandra” (2007) was selected for more than 30 festivals such as Clermont-Ferrrand, San Francisco, Cottbus or Oberhausen (where it was awarded the Main Prize). He made his feature film debut with “The Happiest Girl in the world” in 2009 and won the C.I.C.A.E. Award at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Cinécole Prize in the ACID section at Cannes Film Festival, as well as the FIPRESCI prizes at the Sofia International Festival and at the IndieLisboa IFF. Radu has also directed over 100 commercials.
“A Film for Friends” (2011) is Radu’s last finished project, an independent medium length film. He is currently in pre-production with his second feature film “Everybody from Our Family”.
