Paula Hopf

Paula Hopf (Mexico City, 1988) studied Directing at „Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica”, in Mexico City. She has directed fiction and documentary short films, which have been in the official selection of numerous national and international film festivals and have been awarded with prizes, such as: „Light Years”/ “Años Luz”, official selection at the International Chilean Short Film Festival/ “Festival Chileno Internacional del Cortometraje” – “FeSanCor”, in Santiago, the “Cinema da Mare” Film Festival, in Italy, “Short Shorts” Film Festival, in Japan, and Sydney Latin American Film Festival; “Lúpulo’s House”/ “La casa de Los Lúpulos”, nominated for the “Ariel” for the Best Documentary Short Film, semifinalist in the “Student Oscars”, “Monsieur Guillaume” Award, at “FIDCOS”, Best Documentary Short Film, at the Merida and Yucatan Film Festival/ “Mérida y Yucatán Film Festival” – “FICMY”, Special Mention at the International Film Festival of the National Autonomous University of Mexico/ “Festival Internacional de Cine de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México” – “FICUNAM”, and at the “José Rovirosa” Award; and “Velvet”, which premiered at the International Film Festival in Guadalajara/ “Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara”, in 2018. With her first feature film project, “A Normal Girl”, she participated in the “Workshop for Analysis and Development of First and Second Pictures” (“TyPA: Teoria y Practica de las Artes” Foundation), organized by the Mexican Film Institute/ “Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografia” – “IMCINE”, in 2017, she received the Development Support of the “IMCINE”, in the same year, and took part in the “Talents Coproduction Market”, at the International Film Festival in Guadalajara, in 2018, where she won the “Berlinale Talents – IMCINE” Award, in order to participate in the Berlinale 2019.
